Manchester United have made a substantial offer for Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto, according to reports.
The Red Devils are understood to be on trail of a new right-back who is also capable of playing midfield with suggestions that Jose Mourinho believes he need a younger player to cover for Antonio Valencia who has gone past the 30 years mark.
Reports in the Daily Mirror claim that United have now placed a bid in the region of 36 million pounds (his release clause) for Sergi Roberto with hopes of getting their man before the end of the transfer window.
Roberto was prominent figure for the Catalan giants last season, netting a memorable goal against Paris Saint Germain but his place in the starting lineup has been put in jeopardy due to the arrival of Nelson Semedo from Benfica.
However, It is understood that the Spaniard is not keen on leaving the Camp Nou this summer, despite his possibility of being benched for the new right-back.
Mourinho is said to have also agreed personal terms with PSG full back, Serge Aurier but the deal is still in balance due to a United Kingdom ban on the Ivorien.
AS Monaco star Fabinho has also been tipped to make an Old Trafford move although the French champions are unwilling to allow their man leave this summer.
