Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata appears to be an optimist individual, following his recent comments that he is motivated to prove his critics wrong after he made his debut for his new club.

The former Real Madrid forward is yet to start for the blues after he completed his £70Million move from the La Liga club and managed just 15 minutes from the bench in Chelsea’s Community Shield loss to Arsenal.

The Spain international missed from the penalty spot as Arsene Wenger’s side won their first trophy for the season, and Alvaro was criticised by lots of people.

However, the 24-year-old says he is prepared for criticism and it will drive him on to be a success at his new club.

Speaking to Marca, the player said:

‘[For the fee], I admit it is a very important amount [however] I have personality to play quietly and go my way,’

‘I’ve got just two pre-season games and 15 official minutes with a failed penalty [against Arsenal]… and they are already killing me, so I know what is quite ahead.

‘It is something that motivates me to work harder every day and to spend an hour every day in the Sports City training.’ he said.

Morata was brought into Stamford Bridge to replace departing Diego Costa who was asked to leave by Antonio Conte at the end of last season.
