It is now confirmed that Arsenal is one of the six teams whose games will be used to test the efficiency of the Video Assistant Referee, VAR. Arsenal’s League Cup encounter against Brentford has been mentioned to be used by the English officials for the trial of the system. Other games that would be used as major test include Manchester United vs Derby and Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leicester City on Tuesday 25th, as West Ham vs Macclesfield Town and Liverpool vs Chelsea on Wednesday 26th. The game between Everton and Southampton will also have the VAR officiating despite being postponed to October 2nd due to a fixture clash.
