Liverpool have been performing poorly since the start of this year and they need to reinforce their squad if they want to seriously challenge for the title this season.
However A Bola reported that Liverpool representatives were in Lisbon to cancel Markovic’s loan with Sporting CP – but they also have another agenda. That agenda is to hire talented William Carvalho. The Portuguese source insisted that Liverpool are committed to signing him.
24-year-old Carvalho was a key member of the Portuguese side that won the European Championships in France last year.
In February last year 2016, he signed a new contract with the Primeira Liga side with a release clause of 45 million euros (I.e $48million). But the report from A Bola suggested that a fee over 30 million euros should be enough to secure his signature.
Arsenal also have been interested in signing William in the past, but after signing a quality Defensive Midfielder in the person of Granit Xhaka last summer, the North London club do not need another holding midfield star.
Liverpool in reality have been vulnerable at the back especially on the counter attacks when they commit numbers up front.
Klopp desperately need a specialist defensive midfielder who can provide a solid cover in front of the back four- Carvalho is the right man for the job. This season so far in 29 appearances for Sporting, he has scored one goal and provided 3 assists.
