Liverpool To Compete With Arsenal For Quality Midfielder’s Signature

It no longer news that Liverpool and Germany midfielder Emre Can will be leaving Anfield stadium by the end of this current campaign after failing to get along with the club’s hierarchy in his new contract discussion.

The Reds are now preparing for life without the German midfielder as they are linked with a move for another Germany international whom they believe will be a perfect replacement for his compatriot.

According to the London Evening Standard, the Merseyside club have entered the race for Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay and they are set to compete with Arsenal- who have earlier developed an interest in the German midfielder- when the summer transfer window opens.

Demirbay, who joined Hoffenheim from Hamburg in a low deal of just £1.5m in 2016, has played 52 matches for the Bundesliga side, scoring eight goals and 15 assists in the process.

The attacking midfielder has been in great form this season for the team and he would be hoping his impressive performances are enough to convince Joachim Low of a place in the manager’s World Cup squad list.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Wilfred Ndidi as Can’s replacement but Leicester City seem to be asking too much from the Merseyside team and that has made Jurgen Klopp turned his attention to Demirbay.

Meanwhile, Naby Keita is set to move to Anfield from RB Leipzig by the end of the season.

The midfielder was signed by the Reds last summer but he opted to remain with the Bundesliga side for the rest of the current campaign.
