Why United do not need Lukaku anymore

Football legend Alan Shearer has opined that Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is no longer needed at the Old Trafford following his poor form this season.

The Belgium international has been in bad form this season and has failed to score in eight games for his side. No wonder, he was left out to the bench in United’s 2-1 win over Everton.

According to Shearer, the player has not been helpful in going forward because of his weak form which makes it difficult for the Red Devils to attack as they ought to.

The football legend argued that his claim was evident in United’s game against Everton as the Jose Mourinho men looked better while going forward because of the absence of the Belgium man.

However, the Portuguese manager has defended the embattled player on several occasions, stating that Lukaku remains an official who cannot be put aside in the team.

The former Chelsea boss added that Lukaku remains a professional who is a hard worker and will return back to form in no time.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have returned to winning ways with the Everton victory having gone a number of games without a win with Lukaku failing to come to the rescue of the Portuguese manager despite his trust in him.
