Champions League giants regret failing to sign former Arsenal attacker and £53million forward

According to reports, Champions League holders Real Madrid regret failing to land Manchester United stars Alexis Sanchez and latest Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January.

Inevitable swap deal

The La Liga giants were powerless as Chilean Alexis Sanchez and former Dortmund striker Aubameyang signed for Arsenal and Man Utd respectively during the winter transfer window.

The South American was the first to switch, calling time on his Emirates Stadium career for a fresh challenge over at Jose Mourinho tutored Manchester United.

The Gabon international striker, meanwhile, joined Arsenal as his replacement, joining from Borussia Dortmund in a massive £53million deal.

Real Madrid’s attack misfiring

Portugal international forward Cristiano Ronaldo has heavily struggled for usual form this season, while Wales international Gareth Bale and French international Karim Benzema have also been poor in front of goal.

The Los Blancos were tipped to make an approach for Alexis Sanchez, while the former African footballer of the year has never hidden his intent to play for the Spanish La Liga giants.

The Chile international netted his first Manchester United goal in their 2-0 victory over Premier League new boys Huddersfield.

And the former Bundesliga forward got off the mark for the Gunners on his debut, netting a deft chip in a 5-1 win over Merseyside club Everton.
