Bayern Munich star Renato Sanches thought he was signing for Chelsea or Manchester United instead of Swansea City in the summer transfer window, as per Paul Clement.
Wonderkid linked with Champions League giants
Renato Sanches was linked heavily with loan transfers to Chelsea FC and Manchester United in the summer having dropped down the pecking order at German side Bayern Munich.
However, the Swansea City pulled off a major coup by beating Premier League heavyweights to sign the Portugal international.
Just about two years ago the attacker was being labelled to become one of the best midfielders in the world but the 20-year-old midfielder has struggled at Swansea and may even leave the Liberty Stadium before the current season ends.
And Paul Clement, who was the boss in charge of Swansea City before he was sacked in December, has said the wonderkid thought he was signing for Paris Saint Germain or Manchester United instead.
Former boss confirm player disappointment
Clement told the Times the attacker wasn’t really interested in joining Swansea City initially.
He admitted the player thought he was joining European heavyweights like Manchester United, PSG or Chelsea.
He confirmed the players Bundesliga club Bayern Munich insisted the youngster was not going to those top clubs, claiming it would possibly be the same situation at those clubs, he’s not going to get playing time.
