With the FIFA World Cup coming up in Russia next summer, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud’s lack of regular football for his side in the English Premier League will not help his chances of making the France National team.
Giroud, 31, has featured in every minute for his team in the group stage of the Europa League, scoring six goals in 21 matches in all competitions.
There’s no doubt about his importance to Arsene Wenger’s squad as he offers a lot with his physical structure, particularly his aerial prowess in attack, but having brought in French compatriot Alexandre Lacazette during the summer, he has found regular playing time hard to come by with the boss favouring to go with one striker.
According to reports, The Mirror states that the striker could leave the North London club on loan in the New Year, as although a £40million transfer to Merseyside club Everton failed to materialize last summer thanks to Arsene Wenger, his stance hasn’t changed as a switch to either Crystal Palace or West Ham United has been speculated.
Whether the Gunners are able to finally get a similar bid is up for debate, but with the FIFA World Cup ahead, and with the striker’s reported intent to remain in the City of London for personal reasons, Olivier Giroud may be on the payroll of another club in the New Year.
