Man United Facing Uphill Task To Completing £36.5m Transfer Move

Manchester United facing an uphill task to sign Barcelona star Sergi Roberto, with reports that the Catalan giants are keen on holding onto the player.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has revealed his intentions to sign a fourth player this summer, following the arrivals of Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic to the Old Trafford.

United are believed to be considering a move for Roberto who has been tipped to make move away from the Camp Nou following the arrival of Nelson Semedo who will take his place at the right-back position.

Barcelona have also been linked with a move for a central midfielder, putting the future of Roberto in jeopardy at the Camp Nou.

Reports in Manchester Evening News claim that Manchester United are facing a difficult task of convincing Barcelona to sell the versatile midfielder who is capable of playing at right-back.

The report also have it that Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is keen on keeping Roberto beyond the summer window and will not allow any of his players leave this summer following the departure of Neymar on a world record fee.

Chelsea are also said to be considering a move for Sergi Roberto as Antonio Conte eyes signing more players to his ‘small’ squad before the end of the transfer window.
