Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel can leave to join Manchester United if the foxes sign Croatian keeper, Lovre Kalinic.
The Foxes are expected to tie up a deal for the Gent keeper and are willing to pay £22million for his services, by so doing paving way for Manchester United to sign Kasper Schmeichel.
It is understood that Leicester City have offered an initial bid of £18million for Kalinic and have been told to up their bid to go past the £20million mark.
Schmeichel, who recently celebrated six years at the King Power stadium, has been a key figure for the club all through their race to the Premier League from Championship and played a vital role in their title-winning campaign.
United are also bracing for the exit of David De Gea who has continually been linked with a move to Real Madrid and it is understood that Jose Mourinho views Schmeichel as an ideal replacement.
Reports in the Sun claim that Kasper Schmeichel wants to follow in the footsteps of his father, Peter at the Old Trafford where he was a legend helping them to several victories under Sir Alex Ferguson.
What remains yet to be known is whether De Gea will finally make his much-anticipated switch to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, and pave way for the arrival of Kasper Schmeichel.
