Liverpool to Loan Danny Ings in January?

A smart bettor will shop around at a variety of sites with the goal of trying to get the most betting value out of the odds. While Liverpool are in flying form at the moment, their odds at mounting a surge for the Premier League title this season are slim. Instead, Jurgen Klopp’s men should focus their attention on finishing in the top-4 and putting together a strong campaign in Champions League.

While the Reds have had to endure injury spells to some of their key players, Danny Ings has still made just one appearance with the first team this season. He played the final 17 minutes of Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City in the EFL Cup. The talented but oft-injured striker has instead spent the majority of his time logging minutes for LFC’s under-23 outfit.

Some wondered prior to the season whether Liverpool’s lack of a traditional striker would hamper their ability to score goals, but that clearly hasn’t been the case. The Reds’ dizzying attack of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho combine to average 2.86 goals every 90 minutes.

Klopp has employed a traditional striker at times, though Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke are both well ahead of Ings on the depth chart. Considering Solanke is only 19, it’s no real surprise that he isn’t seeing regular minutes with a side as talented as Liverpool.

Now 25, it makes sense that Ings may be seeking an opportunity to play more first team football elsewhere.

A couple of teams in danger of relegation are reportedly sniffing around with interest in Ings. according to The Mirror. West Ham and Crystal Palace have both inquired as to Ings’ availability once the transfer window opens up again in January.

Both sides are reportedly interested in a six-month loan deal for Ings that would expire once the summer window opens. The deal may also include the option to make the transfer a permanent one next summer should Ings fare well after his move away from Anfield.

There is no telling whether Ings has much of a future with his current club, so it would make sense for Klopp and the transfer board to consider allowing the player to move on to greener pastures. Ings played well in his first season with the Reds, but he has endured several leg injuries, which have resulted in his lack of ability to assert himself in the squad ever since.

Heading into matchweek 16, Palace and West Ham occupy the top two relegation spots. Both clubs are tied on just 10 points through 15 games, though Palace are a spot ahead of the Hammers thanks to a slightly more favourable goal differential. Swansea City currently sit bottom of the league with just nine points.
