Fans would love this; Chelsea to resume contract negotiations with Superstar

According to the Telegraph, Premier League Champions Chelsea are prepared to continue negotiations of a contract extension with Belgium star Thibaut Courtois’ representatives before the season ends.

Last week the goalkeeper disclosed that the contract negotiations had stalled. According to widespread reports, the Belgium international is requesting a huge pay rise to his current £120,000-weekly deal, and the Blues seem to be unsure whether they’ll be prepared to grant that wage wish. The West London club made him a new deal offer in May, but Courtois wasn’t satisfied with the wage to take the deal.

Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid have also shown huge interest in signing their former loan goalkeeper again, which only put additional pressure on the head of the side.

Talking to Guardian, Thibaut Courtois disclosed that he’s leaving the negotiations for his representative to deal with, as he’s personally paying attention to the current campaign.

Thibaut Courtois will only have 1 year remaining in his current contract at the end of the campaign, meaning that if the Blues can’t tie the safe hand up with a new deal, they will either have to cash in on him next summer or lose him for nothing at the end of 2018/19 season.

Courtois, 25, has only let in one goal in his last four matches.
