Former Arsenal star Robert Pires has urged manager Arsene Wenger not to sign France international forward Thomas Lemar in the January transfer window. The North London giant last summer transfer window, reportedly made a £90million bid for the 21-year-old forward.
Robert Pires believes that the Frenchman would mean bad business for the Emirates club given Monaco’s asking price.
The wonderkid was strongly linked with huge money transfers to top European clubs, after a brilliant breakout League season in the French Ligue 1. Reports indicate that Premier League duo of Arsenal and Liverpool were most interested.
Last summer, Arsenal were keen on signing the winger and reportedly made a whopping £90million offer for the French starlet. Arsene Wenger eventually decided against the transfer, which was being partly funded by Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez.
The North London club pulling out of the move prevented the Chilean from joining Manchester City. The signing of Lemar was to replace contract rebel, Alexis Sanchez.
The Gunners were expecting Sanchez, 28, to leave, given his contract renewal saga.
Robert Pires via Bwin has told Arsene Wenger not to bring in the French winger, given his huge price tag.
The former Arsenal winger believes that a move for Thomas Lemar would mean poor business for the club.
