[Player focus] Arsenal fans want forward out; team better off without him

When North London giant Arsenal played Manchester City, his future employers, Chile international Alexis Sanchez put in a show as bad as former Gunner Oxlade-Chamberlain’s against Liverpool.

The Chilean started the match by losing the ball away twice from a corner kick, allowing the opposition side to counter-attack, but fortunately, Argentine Agüero didn’t manage to score the resulting opportunity. With all eyes on the Chilean, the forward followed that up with a rather poor free-kick.

His second opportunity at a corner kick later in the half was way worse, and once again went straight to the legs of the Manchester City player. Another counter-attack ended in the same manner, as Alexis Sanchez seemed unable to lay a pass to his own teammate.

Towards the end of that half, he stepped up his game a bit, and made a decent run, controlled the ball well and connected a pass to Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman was unlucky not to find the back of the net.

But the Arsenal supporters weren’t happy at the end of first half, as he’d lost the ball too many times for his side to play together and make out anything dangerous around the Manchester City penalty box.

The second 45mins saw more misconnected passes and fouls, even when the Gunners were enjoying some good times of play.

The former Barcelona forward was hardly involved in Arsenal’s good displays, from beginning to the end, and managed a poor, off-target shot through the match.

Sanchez was dispossessed on seven occasions.
