Mesut Ozil set to join Manchester United? Arsenal legend bears his mind on transfer

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright says German Mesut Ozil’s transfer to Premier League giant Manchester United for nothing “looks a shoo-in.”

The FIFA World Cup winner’s current contract at the Emirates Stadium expires after the end of the 2017/18 League season. The Germany international attacking midfielder joined forward Alexis Sanchez on the players expected to depart the North London club on a free transfer next summer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already said it would be possible to lose both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez on a free in the January transfer window. As per the Manchester Evening News, Mesut Ozil is thought to be interested in making a move to Old Trafford for free next summer.

Any transfer from the 20-time Premier League champions could see them face stiff competition from Spanish La Liga side FC Barcelona. According to a report by the Mirror, the La Liga Catalan club are preparing to offer Mesut Ozil £350,000-weekly to come to Spain for a free move next summer.

However, former Arsenal star Ian Wright believes the German playmaker will join Jose Mourinho’s team and admitted the potential switch of Mesut Ozil to Manchester United will break his ‘Gunner’ heart.

Mesut Ozil has played under Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho when they were both at La Liga side Real Madrid.
