Chelsea duo of Brazilian David Luiz and Frenchman Tiemoue Bakayoko could miss the side’s game with Watford in the Premier League this weekend. Watford visits Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon and could be buoyed by the pair’s absence.

The Brazil international defender was withdrawn from the Blues Wednesday night UEFA Champions League clash with AS Roma. He was paired with France international Bakayoko in Chelsea’s midfield. The duo gave the side a lot of bite and the Blues bossed the match early. Once substituted, the Blues reverted to a 3-4-3 formation, and the sub allowed AS Roma to get back into the game. The game eventually ended 3-3.

Luiz sustained a knock to his calf, and is a doubt for the team’s game against Watford on Saturday.

“David Luiz has a little injury in his calf,” Antonio Conte disclosed after the disappointing draw with Serie A giant AS Roma. “In this moment, I [Antonio Conte] can’t risk my players, because we [Chelsea] are playing always the same [set of] players, so it’s very tough now to risk any player and to lose him for long times.”

Although midfield maestro Bakayoko finished the game on Wednesday, it was discovered he was nursing a groin strain following the match. Former Leicester City man N’Golo Kante is also sidelined though injured and will not play a part in Saturday’s game. The Premier League Champions are without a win in their last three matches, and desperately need their top players fit.
