Barcelona are in advanced talks to seal £43millon transfer move for Benfica defender, Nelson Semedo, according to reports.
The right-back was believed to be a long-term target for Manchester United since the last January transfer window, with reports that the Red Devils made an initial approach to Benfica over the signature of the defender during the window while they also failed in their bid to sign teammate, Victor Lindelof who was also keen on joining United both the two club could not agree on a deal.
Reports in Record claim that Barcelona have now moved ahead of Manchester United in the pursuit of Semedo, after meeting with Benfica who are ready to lower their asking price for the full back and will do business for a reported £43million despite his release clause been pegged at £62million.
It is understood that Jose Mourinho is keen to add the Portuguese to his current squad as a cover for Antonio Valencia who is a key figure at the Old Trafford. But will be gutted the news of Barcelona moving fast to seal a transfer for Semedo.
The Catalan giants are believed to be eyeing the defender has an ideal replacement at the right-back position which has been a major concern for them since Dani Alves left for Juventus.
