Manchester United Plot Late-ditch Attempt To Sign Serie A Midfielder

Manchester United are plotting a last-ditch attempt to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports.

The Red Devils are believed to be preparing for life after Paul Pogba, following reports that the French midfielder wants to leave Old Trafford in favour of a move to Barcelona, having met with Barca representatives during his vacation in the United State while celebrating France’s victory at the World Cup.

United boss Jose Mourinho is also said to be at loggerheads with Pogba over his tactical discipline and will not be in his way if he wants to switch clubs this summer.

It is understood that Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola has presented Manchester United with a player-plus-cash proposal which was immediately rejected by the club, with reports that the club will only consider selling Pogba if a replacement is signed.

Reports in Il Messaggero claim that United have now approached Lazio over the possibility of signing Milinkovic-Savic who is valued at £89 million.

The reports also claim that Mourinho has informed Jorge Mendes to get the deal over the line before the end of summer window, by the so doing paving way for Paul Pogba to leave Old Trafford.

The French midfielder is said to be unhappy with Jose Mourinho’s comments about his performances at the World Cup despite his performance as his side rode to win the competition.
