Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has sent a message to summer signing Alexandre Lacazette following the winter arrival of highly rated goal poacher Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Under-performing striker’s position under threat
The former African footballer of the year completed a £56million switch to the Emirates Stadium on transfer deadline day and an under forming Alexandre Lacazette may be fearing for his spot as the Arsenal’s first choice goal scorer.
The France international striker has only managed to score two goals since the start of December 2017, but Arsene Wenger has urged the striker to use the arrival of the Gabon international striker as motivation to perform better and fight for his position in the team.
It’s a competitive sport, claims Wenger
Arsene Wenger, quizzed if he has had to reassure the summer signing over his importance at the North London club, the tactician responded:
‘I [Arsene Wenegr] don’t reassure anybody [any player]. He explained the game of football is a competitive sport and every member of the team must fight for their places.
Aubameyang a major doubt
The former Monaco of France manager disclosed that the former Borussia Dortmund striker is a major doubt for the Gunners clash with Merseyside club Everton after falling ill.
Wenger confirmed the striker started training with the group yesterday but was not completely well. He said he will have to see with the medical crew on that.
