Major boost for Arsenal as target leaves Serie A outfit

It has been confirmed by Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma that their director Monchi has left the club by mutual consent.

This is coming at the heels of speculations linking him with a move to the North London outfit Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.

Monchi has been listed alongside former Player Overmars as the possible choice for the Gunners to take up recruitment roles after the exit of Sven Mislintat as the club’s head of recruitment.

The 50-year-old was earlier reported to have indicated interest in the job with the Gunners manager Unai Emery giving his backing for the former AS Roma chief as they have both worked together in the past at Sevilla where they both produced a team that won the Europa League on three occasions between 2014 and 2016.

Monchi has been with the Italian Serie A outfit since 2017 when he left Sevilla and has ensured they have quality players like Cengiz Under, Aleksandar Kolarov, Justin Kluivert and Javier Pastore.

However, Monchi will have his first responsibility should he join the North London outfit in the summer winter transfer window to have quality players join the club with a limited transfer budget available.
