Another attempt by English Premier League side Manchester United to secure a new world class central defender has again failed following reports by Italian Serie A outfit Fiorentina that Nikola Milenkovic will not be leaving the club this winter window.
United had the worst start in 28 years of their club history this season under sacked manager Jose Mourinho and they are on the lookout to bring a lasting solution having identified that they are lacking in quality at the back.
Efforts by the former Portuguese manager to secure additions of Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld in the last summer window failed as the bid was not sanctioned by the club’s chief which led to a rift in the club.
There are fears that the same scenario could play out this winter window but in this case, there seems to be scarcity of talents and the ones available are not ready for a move.
Nikola Milenkovic had been scouted by the former manager in his Serbia game earlier this season and the club seem to be ready to continue with the pursuit which is sure not to work out.
However, United will keep the search for a central defender going until they are able to secure additions before the end of the window.
