Ivan Perisic is one of the players heavily linked with a move to Manchester United during the past summer transfer window, but nothing could happen before the closure of the window.
And the Croatian star has recently opened up on why he chose to reject the Old Trafford club in the summer to remain with the Serie A giants for this season.
Ivan has been superb at Inter Milan this term and has scored seven goals with six assists in 15 Serie A starts.
The Croat scored a hat-trick in Inter Milan’s 5-0 thrashing of Chievo on Sunday, and his side are now sitting on the top spot of the Serie A table.
Man United boss Jose Mourinho was keen on signing the player before the closure of the summer transfer window, but a deal couldn’t see the light of the day, and Ivan stayed back at the Italian capital for the time being.
And the 28-year-old has made it known that his manager at San Siro Luciano Spalletti had been instrumental in persuading him to ignore the clubs calling for his attention, and to remain at Milan.
The Croatian player has since signed a new contract that will keep him at Inter until 2022, and his decision to remain with the Italian club seems to be paying off this term.
