Is this player transfer decision a blow to Arsenal?

North London outfit Arsenal are reported to be on the verge of missing out on the signature of summer target Markus Schubert but it is yet to be known if they will be suffering a blow by that development.

It is reported that the goalkeeper is keen to move to Schalke despite the interest from the North London outfit.

Arsenal need for a goalkeeper because of the decision by legendary player Petr Cech to quit the game as a player and move into management.

Also, David Ospina is set to remain with Italian Serie A outfit Napoli on a permanent deal which means Bernd Leno will be the only experienced goalkeeper at the Emirates Stadium.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has therefore been linked to serve as an option to Bernd Leno ahead of the coming season.

However, Daily Mail claims that the Dynamo Dresden keeper will be heading to Schalke to become the first choice goalkeeper rather than remain with his club as an option to No.1 Alexander Nubel.

However, it is unclear if his failure to come to Arsenal remains a blow knowing that the management are willing to work with Martinez as an option for the coming season.

The decision by the goalkeeper could, therefore, be a blessing in disguise for the young Arsenal goalkeeper to help him step up to the ranks.
