Chelsea Given Edge Over PL Rivals For £55M Star Transfer

Southampton star player Virgil Van Dijk appears destined to play in Stamford Bridge next season after his club reportedly gave the premier league champions the advantage in the race for his signature by preferring selling him to Chelsea instead of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The reds were forced into making a public apology to Southampton earlier this summer after the Saints threatened to report them to the FA for approaching the player illegally. But still yet, Jurgen Klopp still desire bringing the Netherlands international to Anfield.

There were speculations that the Dutchman is so keen to leave St Marys before the reds paused the deal during the fight with his club.

Even though Van Dijk’s club accepted the apology offered by the reds, it is understood that both sides are still on bad terms and Chelsea can now capitalize on that.

The Sun are reporting that even though the Saints are playing hardball over Van Dijk’s future, they will prefer selling him to Chelsea if he chooses to leave.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is known to be a big lover of Virgil and believes he’s the perfect fit for his system at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian manager is reportedly not too pleased with his side’s activities so far this transfer window and has made it known already that he needs more signings to add to his ‘small squad’.
