According to reports, Arsenal have turned down a season long loan move for defender Shkodran Mustafi from Serie A giant Inter Milan last week.
The Serie A club allegedly attempted to take the defender on loan last week, but the Gunners are said to be waiting for Italian club to table a bid of £35m before considering to permit him to leave, as per the Daily Star.
The publication claims that Mustafi is finding it difficult to settle properly and make new friends at the North London club.
Arsenal paid La Liga side Valencia the same fee for the 25-year-old defender last summer, which is one of the reasons the transfer saga might linger.
Last week, reports claim that Inter had already tabled a £35m offer for the defender and now it’s being claimed that they rather wanted a loan move.
Just a year after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger brought him to the Emirate Stadium and made the Germany international a regular starter.
The Center back, last season, played 37 matches in all competitions for the Gunners, even netting twice and providing the same number of assists.
This season, Mustafi has already played 90 minutes despite his late participation at the FIFA Confederations Cup this summer.
Therefore, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger allowing him to leave the club will be bizarre, because he has four years remaining on his current Arsenal contract, Gabriel has just surprisingly signed for La Liga club Valencia, and German Per Mertesacker has just a year remaining before he hangs his boots.
