Arsenal Ready To Spend Big On 22-Year-Old 5f Tall Midefielder In Surprise Deal

North London club Arsenal will compete with city rivals and English Premier League (EPL) leaders Chelsea for the race to win the signature of Italian Serie A star Diego Laxalt ahead of the January transfer window, which is expected to pen in two weeks’ time according to reports coming out of Italy.

23-year old Laxalt, who has just one cap for the Uruguay national team, plays for Genoa and has impressed this season in the colours of his side prompting interest from European heavyweights such as Arsenal and Chelsea. The attacking midfielder has so far scored 1 goal in addition to 2 assists so far this season.

Chelsea reportedly want the left-footer to replace Brazilian midfielder Oscar, who has been lined with the Chinese Super League while Arsenal would like to add to their attacking options at the Emirates Stadium.

Both London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea have started the season well with the former third on the log with 34 points from the first 16 games of the season while the latter is presently on top of the league with 40 points from the 16 games played so far. The two clubs would be hoping to outwit each other to seal the signing of Diego Laxalt so as to fuel their title challenge in the EPL.
