Manchester United signed Eric Bailly from Villarreal last year and also splashed some cash to bring Victor Lindelof from Benfica during the past summer transfer window.
The Ivorian star has evolved into one of the most important members at Old Trafford and is a first-team regular in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI.
The Swedish defender, on the other hand, is still struggling to stand firmly on his feet at his new club, and the former Benfica man can’t be fully trusted yet with bigger games.
However, Bailly is currently out with a long-term injury, which means Mourinho is expected to sign a new defender next year. And the Old Trafford club have been linked with a young centre back in the person of Daniele Rugani.
There are new reports coming from Italy that two premier league clubs – Manchester United and Arsenal – are planning to pay Juventus €40M for Rugani’s signature.
The young Italian is not getting lots of playing time at the Turin club this season and he mainly warmed the bench under manager Allegri.
The 23-year-old is looking to leave the Serie A champions and it was reported that he is interested in playing in the English top flight.
Should Mourinho sign a defender struggling to get regular playing time in his current club?
