Arsenal close to losing big target to Liverpool

English Premier League outfit Arsenal are set to lose their big target and French Ligue 1 outfit Lille star Nicolas Pepe to their league counterpart Liverpool.

This is after reports claim that Liverpool are already closing in on his signature and a deal could be announced before the end of the summer transfer window.

The likes of Arsenal and Man United are also linked with the signature of the Ivory Coast international but they are set to lose out with claims that Liverpool have already met the valuation of the star player.

Nicolas Pepe impressed with Lille this season and he caught the attention of a number of top teams with Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona also making an attempt to land him.

The North London outfit have been disadvantaged by the fact that they do not have enough funds to compete in the summer transfer window with other top teams.

Manager Unai Emery will have just £40 million to compete in the summer transfer window. It has been suggested that the said amount will not be enough to land the number of players and the quality needed at the Emirates Stadium next season.

The defence remains the major priority of the Spanish boss.
