Arsenal close to completing January transfer swoop for Peter Gulacsi

According to reports, English Premier League Champions Chelsea and North London giant Arsenal are preparing moves for former Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi.

Gulacsi, 27, goalkeeper has played at Anfield Stadium for five seasons. However, most of his playing time at the Merseyside club was spent out on several loans and failed to play a senior match for the Reds back in 2013.

The Hungary international safe hand is currently playing for German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig as the first-choice safe hand helping the side last season to finish the campaign as the German Bundesliga runner-ups.

As per a report by ESPN, the Blues and Gunners both had scouts watching closely Gulacsi in action as RB Leipzig 2-0 defeat to Champions Bayern Munich last weekend.

Arsenal are looking for a long-term replacement for Czech international Petr Cech following his shaky displays, while the defending English Premier League champions are beginning a search around the transfer market as they get set for Thibaut Courtois possible departure to Spanish La Liga Champions Real Madrid.

Gulacsi joined FB Leipzig for a transfer fee of about £2.6million two years ago.

Meanwhile, the Reds are also struggling in the goalkeeping position with Loris Karius and Belgian Simon Mignolet both failing to perform well for Jurgen Klopp. However, the German boss is unlikely to join his English Premier League rivals to seal the services of goaltender Peter Gulacsi.
