Nicolò Barella

Premier League table toppers Liverpool have been dealt a big transfer blow following the news that one of their targets is not for sale.

Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella has been strongly linked with a transfer to the Reds to boost the Liverpool midfield but his club’s sporting director is adamant that the player is not for sale.

According to Mario Passetti, Nicolo Barella won’t leave the club in this transfer window despite the fact that there are many clubs keen on his transfer.

Apart from Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, and Juventus have also been linked with the 21-year-old.

His performances for Cagliari in the last two seasons have led to many people singing his praises including Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo.

Chelsea have identified him as a potential replacement for aging midfielder Cesc Fabregas who has left the club for Monaco.

Fabregas joined French Ligue 1 side Monaco last week after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract that will take him to 2022 at the club.

The Blues have also targeted Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes as a possible midfield addition with reports claiming that they have made a second bid of £36m for the Argentine international.
