Chelsea close in on Benteke, Sandro, Ross Barkley ahead of January transfer window

Premier League Champions Chelsea are prepared to spend massively in the New year to sign players to strengthen their squad, with the trio of Christian Benteke, Alex Sandro, and Ross Barkley all mentioned as primary winter targets.

Chelsea failed to acquire several top name targets in the summer with Belgium international Romelu Lukaku preferring a move from Merseyside club Everton to Manchester United ahead of a transfer return to the Bridge.

Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente opted to join up with Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspurs instead of linking up with Antonio Conte at Chelsea, leaving the Italian tactician frustrated over the summer transfer dealings.

England international attacker Ross Barkley’s transfer, left the Blues fans confused with a last minute change of heart when a move for him was cancelled even after travelling to London for medical examination; although he later gave details on social media.

The Blues, as reported by Mirror, want to bolster their squad as they try to sign Juventus star Alex Sandro, a player they had a 53 million offer turned down for in the summer and Everton’s Ross Barkley, who is still unfit after his summer injury.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte also wants to bring in striker Benteke to his team to provide enough competition to Spain international striker Alvaro Morata despite the impressive efforts of Belgian Michy Bathsuayi, who has scored seven goals this season.

The Belgium international striker has not started his season just yet, without a goal this League season for Palace.
