Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has singled out Pedro Rodriguez and has heaped praise on the star following his side’s defeat to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The former Barcelona man took the place of Victor Moses after the Nigerian star was ruled out for injury, and the Italian boss has hailed him following the disappointing defeat.
Chelsea’s strong defense was not able to successfully contain the Crystal Palace duo of Wilfried and Christian Benteke on Saturday afternoon at home. However the former Juventus manager hailed the performance of Pedro – who acted as a makeshift defender, after the loss of three points.
The boss, making comments after the game, first of all talked about his injured Moses. He attested that the Nigerian star is an important player for his squad as he has been playing a great season at Chelsea. He then praised Pedro, stating the Spanish star played quite well in his makeshift full-back role.
Conte added that the former Barcelona player is more offensive and concluded that it all shows his side tried to play football and win every game.
Antonio Conte and his men need to however put the sad incident behind and remain focused on the race. They are preparing to take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening. The match is an important one that can decide if Chelsea will remain favorites to lift the trophy, as any mistake could see their current seven points lead becoming reduced further.
