Breaking! Star striker prepared to return to training on Sunday amid exit talks

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed Alexis Sanchez will return to pre-season training on Sunday.

Rumour has been making the round all summer long over where the Chilean may end up after the transfer window is shut, with speculations over a transfer to either Manchester City or PSG gaining grip in recent weeks.

Thankfully for Arsenal fans, the striker, who had his summer break extended due to his involvement in the recently concluded FIFA Confederations Cup, will at least be back training with the North London club in the next few days. This far from dismiss speculations over a transfer elsewhere but it is, nevertheless, a positive step forward.

According to Arsenal.com, this is what Wenger had to say about the striker’s return:

“Alexis and [Shkodran] Mustafi, their first training session will be on Sunday, the day we play against Sevilla [in the Emirates Cup]. They are practising on the day.”

Wenger, 67, also went on to talk about when he could see the duo return to first team action.

Having scored 30 goals and made 19 assists in 51 matches, for Arsenal last season, it is easy to see just why the hype around the striker’s potential departure has been enormous thus far.

This development perhaps indicates there’s hope for Arsenal fans fearing his exit to a Premier League rival or European heavyweight.

With their rivals reinforcing this summer transfer window considerably, keeping hold of the Chilean could be crucial in Arsenal at the very least returning to the sacred top four.
