Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker, according to reports.
The Red Devils are said to be among the clubs that have shown interest in signing the midfielder with reports that AC Milan and RB Leipzig are planning a transfer swoop for the 22-year-old.
Reports in Belgian outlet De Morgen claim that the Red Devils will send a representative to Anderlecht’s season opener against Antwerp on Friday while it is expected that some other clubs in Europe will send their scouts to watch the midfielder.
The report also claim that United boss Jose Mourinho is impressed with the skills of Dendoncker and have told his side to monitor the player’s transfer situation.
It is understood that Anderlecht have slapped an unbelievable €38 million (£34m) in order to fend off interest from clubs. Mourinhi became a fan of the midfielder after he netted his first ever goal in Europe against Manchester United in an Europa League encounter last season.
When asked about the possibility of moving, Dendoncker said: ‘Those are nice clubs. We will see.’
However, Anderlecht’s sporting director Herman Van Holsbeeck told Het Nieuwsblad earlier this summer that the club are not interested in selling the midfielder this transfer window.
He said: ‘We want to keep him another year, we do not need the money.’
