According to Italian media reports, Liverpool are prepared to battle it out with Napoli to land Sampdoria youngster Lucas Torreira this summer transfer window.
Liverpool want starlet
Italian media publication Gazzetto dello Sport, as cited by the Daily Mirror, is claiming that Liverpool are keen on the 22-year-old after his impressive displays for Sampdoria this campaign.
The same report states that the Italian side have also shown interest in Torreira as the side looked to seek a replacement for Italian Jorginho, who has also been heavily linked with Merseyside giant Liverpool.
Perfect replacement for Can
As per the same article, Jurgen Klopp sees Torreira as the perfect replacement for Germany international midfielder Emre Can as the attacking midfielder closes in on a transfer to Juventus.
Torreira has netted four goals and has provided one assist in 36 matches in the Serie A this term to emerge as a promising central midfielder in the Italian League.
The Uruguayan is set to play at the FIFA World Cup in Russia this summer and Liverpool will want to wrap up a deal before Lucas Torreira has the opportunity to earn more interest from suitors on the world stage.
