Arsenal still keeping close tab on Jonny Evans

According to the Mirror, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still very keen on signing Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion this winter transfer window.

Arsenal have already been busy this month and have executed the swap deal of Chilean Alexis Sanchez and Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan with Premier League rivals Manchester United.

However, the French tactician is not done there and is looking to land more fresh players this New Year in a bid to reinforce his current squad.

Arsenal Wenger wants to secure the signature of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, with the Gunners already discussing a transfer with Arsenal. However, it looks like Evans is still a main defensive transfer target for the side, whose back line has flattered to deceive this campaign.

Evans has been strongly linked with a couple of top sides in the past six months, including league leaders Manchester City, and a transfer away from his Premier League club could be a huge possibility.

Although West Brom manager Alan Pardew wants to keep the Northern Ireland international’s at the club, it’s thought that the side must offload before they purchase in January. This could signal that a transfer for Evans is not out of reach.
