Arsenal have missed out on the signing of Bayern Leverkusen midfielder, Hakan Calhanoglu who confirmed that he has signed for AC Milan.
The 23-year-old has drawn interest from a couple of clubs in Europe due to his impressive free-kick ability coupled with versatility that has pitched him with among the notable players in the German Bundesliga.
A host of Premier League clubs have been tipped to make a move for Calhanoglu with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal believed to be seriously monitoring his transfer situation, however, that seem not the case after the player confirmed that he is due to have a medical at AC Milan ahead of a stunning move to the San Siro.
“I am on my way to sign the contract in Milan,” Calhanoglu told Bild.
“I want to thank Bayer Leverkusen, the directors and the fans for three fantastic years.”
Prior reports have it that AC Milan will pay around £20.8million for Turkish attacking midfielder despite speculations that Arsenal were told to pay around £32million
Calhanoglu played 22 times for Leverkusen in all competitions, netting seven goals and seven assists, with two years on his current deal at the Bundesliga.
The 23-year-old has not played since January due to a FIFA ban that restricts him from playing due to a contract dispute with the Turkish club, Trabzonspor who claim that they paid him a €100k to sign for them in 2011 but he went ahead to extend his deal with his former club, Karlsruhe.
