Liverpool Set To Make Move For £60M Star Player

Everyone thought Jurgen Klopp will sign at least one centre-back for Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but the German boss couldn’t make anything happen before the closure of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool currently have big issues with their defense department, and they must take advantage of the upcoming January transfer window to fix it by signing a top defender, hence, they won’t be able to challenge for the big trophies in the second half of the season.

Liverpool were majorly linked with Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk in the summer, but his club did not allow him to leave.

And recently, it was made known that if Phillipe Coutinho leave for Barcelona in January, Klopp’s side will need to move to bring the duo of Keita and Van Dijk into Anfield immediately.

Liverpool Echo reported that the Anfield club will try signing Virgil if the Saints soften their stance this time around.

The Dutchman is one of the best central defenders currently playing in England and will improve Klopp’s defense if he should move to Anfield.

The £60M-rated player has a contract with Southampton that is meant to expire in 2022.

The bottom line is that, Liverpool shouldn’t wait until Countiho leave the club next year before signing new players – especially a defender.
