Chelsea set to pay £53 million to land goal machine on the cheap

Premier League Champions Chelsea have been on red alert after a report credited to Metro Sport, disclosed that German side Borussia Dortmund are ready to lower their valuation for Gabonese Pierre Emerick Aubameyang after the striker’s relationship with the club broke down.

The Gabon international striker has been impressive in the German Bundesliga with his goals record but his recent attitude has led to several fines, bans and constant friction between his teammates and the club.

His situation at the club has alerted top European clubs, particularly Premier League sides like Chelsea and Liverpool.

According to Metro, who cited Bild, the Blues may have to pay up to £53 million for the forward who has grabbed 11 goals this campaign in the Bundesliga and provided two assists.

The African is second on the top goal scorers chart behind Polish striker Robert Lewandowski and is sure to rival the Bayern forward until the last day of the Bundesliga season.

He was heavily linked to Antonio Conte’s side last term but the transfer could not happen and now with the striker’s relationship with Borussia Dortmund hitting the rock, after he was heavily fined and banned for the game against German side Stuttgart, the speculations of his departure have been rife since.

The forward received two yellow cards in Borussia Dortmund’s 4-4 draw with Bundesliga rivals Schalke 04, increasing tensions in the Dortmund dressing room as they could not find an important win at home.
