Premier League Champions Chelsea are thought to have agreed a transfer fee with rivals Arsenal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the transfer window closes.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who signed for the Gunners back in 2011, is forcing a transfer and reportedly turned down an improved contract offer from the North London club last week.
Reports indicate that a transfer fee of about £35million has been agreed and a medical examination will take place in a matter of days.
The box to box midfielder, who played from the start for the Gunners in Sunday’s 4-0 loss at Anfield Stadium, is currently with the England National team squad at St George’s Park.
And it is widely thought that his medicals could be done at England’s training base, with the Blues keen to seal the deal ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The attacking midfielder, who has played 198 matches for Arsenal since joining from Southampton, would be the first signing since Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte said he wanted to bring in four more players.
Chelsea have let go of a host of players including John Terry, Nathan Ake, and Kurt Zouma, and Nemanja Matic, to leave this summer window alone, while striker Diego Costa has been informed he can leave.
Like Chamberlain, Chilean Alexis Sanchez and German Mesut Ozil are also out of contract at Arsenal next summer.
