Liverpool Face Merseyside Threat For €100m Midfielder

Five-time European champions Liverpool will have to fend off the threat of Merseyside rivals Everton in their quest to sign highly rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Portuguese media outlet Correio da Manha claim that the Toffees will battle it out with Liverpool for Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese international player has a €100m release clause in his current contract with Portuguese Super League giants Sporting Lisbon who might be open to a summer sale due to their current financial state.

Bloomberg had earlier revealed in November 2018 that Sporting Lisbon are in debt to the tune of €281m and they could raise funds through player sales in the summer to settle some of their debts.

Bruno Fernandes has been one of the best players for Sporting Lisbon this term.

Sporting Lisbon might need to sell him below the aforementioned release clause to raise funds for their debts.

Liverpool and Everton could do with a midfield signing this summer.

The Liverpool midfield has come under severe criticisms this season because of their ineffectiveness while Everton are not certain about keeping Andre Gomes in their midfield for next season.

Andre Gomes is on a season-long loan deal from Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona.
