Chelsea face serious risk of losing £40m striker; Premier League rivals hijack transfer

According to reports, Merseyside giant Everton are trying to hijack Chelsea’s approach for Leicester striker Jamie Vardy as they attempt to replace departed striker Romelu Lukaku.

Everton have already splashed about £150m this summer transfer window on Gylfi Sigurdsson, Davy Klaassen, and, Michael Keane, but it looks as though manager Ronald Koeman still desire one more quality addition to his team.

As per The Mirror, the Toffees are now attempting to hijack Chelsea’s £40m Vardy move and believe that they are favourites in that former Leicester scout Steve Walsh is the football director at Goodison Park.

The 30-year-old England international would a quality addition at Conte’s side, as the Blues continue to pursuing a striker with Spaniard Diego Costa still AWOL as the former Athletico Madrid man continues to force for an exit.

Costa’s decision has left Chelsea manager Antonio Conte depleted up front with new signing Alvaro Morata and Belgian Michy Batshuayi battling for game time, and so signing Vardy, who is a proven goalscorer, can stretch defence line of opponents with his incredible pace and skillful movement and will work hard enough for the team, something the Italian tactician will love, would somewhat be a perfect solution.

The Foxes will undoubtedly hope to keep the Englishman, but it seems as though interest is only increasing and the chance of a transfer to a Premier League top club may not present itself again for the forward.
