According to reports, Arenal are demanding about £40million plus £1 from rivals Liverpool for England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Express Sport claims Oxlade-Chamberlain desire to leave the North London club after turning down an improved £180,000-weekly contract.

The North Londoners are yet to decide on whether to sell him before the summer transfer window closes next week or keep him at the club to run out his existing deal and lose him on a free next summer.

Premier League pair of Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly keenly interested in signing him as they both seek to strengthen their squad before the transfer window slams shut on August 31.

But Jurgen Klopp’s team are frontrunners in the race to sign the England attacker, who will is reportedly willing to accept a £200,000-weekly contract.

However, as per The Sun, Arsene Wenger’s team has their destiny in their hand and are seeking to assert themselves over their League rivals.

The Merseyside giant famously turned down a £40m plus £1 transfer fee from the Gunners for Luis Suarez back in 2013. And it is believed that the Gunners are now requesting that the Reds pay the same transfer if they desire to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The versatile midfielder apparently informed the Arsenal manager he was glad to pen down a new long-term contract last season.

But the same publication states that the attacker’s agents have played a big part in changing his mind.

Arsenal superstar duo of Chilean Alexis Sanchez and German Mesut Ozil have also failed to renew their contract and look set to leave the Emirate club.
