Liverpool face a big battle on their hands in their quest to prise Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic away from the German Bundesliga leaders following the news that Premier League rivals Chelsea have opened talks over a £70m transfer for the player.
It was revealed by the London Evening Standard that the Blues initiated transfer talks with Borussia Dortmund over Pulisic at the start of last weekend.
Despite the new development, Christian Pulisic is said to be in favour of a move to Liverpool.
The United States of America international has been a subject of transfer involving Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
He has just 18 months left on his current Borussia Dortmund contract.
Pulisic, 20, is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young players in world football.
However, the American forward has not been able to nail down a starting berth at Dortmund this season due to the form of English player Jadon Sancho and Johann Brunn Larsen.
Sancho has been in impressive form for both club and country this season thus leading to rave reviews from football stakeholders at home and abroad.
Christian Pulisic has been restricted to just four league appearances in the new campaign.
