English Midfielder Closing In On Arsenal Transfer After Failed Talks

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is nearing the end of his stay at the club after failing to agree on a new deal.

According to Sky Sports, the 23-year-old is not close to agreeing on an extension to his contract at the Emirates and might leave the club this summer.

There were reports that the Gunners have held talks with Oxlade-Chamberlain over a new deal as his current deal nears its end with just one year remaining on his current deal.

The likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have all been tipped to move for the Englishman this summer although Arsene Wenger will be reluctant to allow him leave to join any of their league rivals.

The report also claims that negotiations between the player and the club have reached an impasse and there are no signs of new planned talks over a new deal despite Oxlade-Chamberlain being at the Arsenal’s preseason camp in Australia.

The former Southampton star joined the Gunners in 2011 as one of the promising youngsters in the Premier League and was tipped to replace Theo Walcott who is also a graduate of the Saints academy.

However, the Englishman has not proved his quality due to inconsistent displays and injuries but his contributions towards the end of last season could get him more attention next campaign.
