Chelsea star player Nemanja Matic has emerged as a target for Jose Mourinho this summer and the player has been linked with a move to Man United in recent times, with Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko set to replacing him at Chelsea.
Even though there were some delays in the deal, it is understood that the player himself is still keen on reuniting with his former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
There were reports that Bakayoko’s fitness is the primary factor holding up the completion of his move to Stamford Bridge, which is simultaneously hindering Matic’s move to Old Trafford.
There were also speculations that United boss Jose Mourinho is planning to hijack the deal for Bakayoko from Chelsea, after the Portuguese tactician successfully swoop for long-term Chelsea target Lukaku.
However, following the Lukaku saga, the relationship between the two clubs is expected to move towards an unpleasant direction, with the forward ending up at Manchester despite looking as if he is west London bound.
The Daily Telegraph are reporting that, despite all complications, Nemanja preferred moving to Old Trafford this summer to reunite with Mourinho ahead of next season.
Manchester United have signed Victor Lindelof from Benfica, and the latest major signing being Romelu. They have also been linked with Tottenham’s Eric Dier as well as Monaco player Fabinho.
