Amidst all current speculations about Lindelof’s move to Old Trafford, it seem we now have a proper update. According to new reports from Swedish newspaper Expressen, Benfica have eventually come to some kind of agreement with Lindelof’s previous club Vasteras. What that means is that he is now free to move to Manchester United.
His former club Vasteras had been due 20% of a transfer fee as part of the deal which saw him go to Benfica in the first place, but then Benfica have been trying every trick to avoid having to pay that.
However, Vasteras remain strong and though willing to negotiate and accept less, they wouldn’t agree to be walked all over.
Expressen claimed, according to information provided to them, that the Portuguese giants are settling the dispute after pressure to do so from the red devils.
This of course would make Man United come out of the mess looking respectable. Bengt-Ake Nilsson, Vasteras chairman, though haven’t said a deal is done yet, has explained that good talks have taken place, saying it is possible a push from Manchester United has been the turning point.
Not long ago, it was reported that United are no longer interested in signing the Swedish defender. But with things getting straighten up now, it might sparkle back something positive.
Additionally, if everything eventually went right with Lindelof going to Manchester United and Vasteras getting their money, then we can give kudos to Vasteras and those at United who put the pressure on Benfica.
