Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has never been written off in his entire career due to his glaring achievements in Portugal, Italy, Spain and England.
Obviously, things have not been going the way they ought to for United and Mourinho and no wonder, former Red Devils defender, Rio Ferdinand has the guts to write off his former side.
With the Mourinho boys expected to have their first Champions League game of the season against Young Boys in Bern on Wednesday, Ferdinand is of the opinion that United are only in the competition as pretenders and not contenders.
He was bold enough to state that United should forget about the Champions League this season as they will not go anywhere close to the trophy.
Giving reasons for his stance, he stated that the United’s defence will be the sabotage that will ensure the team’s defeat.
Ferdinand will not forget the slow start of the season for United having lost two consecutive games despite the win against Watford on Saturday.
The fact that United have recorded just one clean sheet, Ferdinand says there is no one to ensure more of the clean sheets as all the defenders on ground lack what it takes to do more.
He blamed inconsistency as the major challenge of the United defenders.
