Manchester United have opened talks with midfielder Ander Herrera over a new deal amid speculations over his future.
Reports in Daily Star claim that the Red Devils have started with the Spanish midfielder over a new contract in order to fend off interest from Barcelona.
Prior reports have it that the Catalan giants are ready to prise Herrera away from Old Trafford as new boss Ernesto Valverde plans to solidfy his midfield options ahead of next season.
The 27-year-old has been  a key figure for Manchester United since he moved there from Atletico Bilbao and was part of their squad that won the Europa League and EFL League trophy last season, churning out impressive displays alongside Paul Pogba.
Ander Herrera has just one year on his current deal at the Old Trafford and Barcelona believes he could be an ideal candidate to replace Andre Iniesta at the Camp Nou next season.
